Walk with the Lions (or Run)

This has been the definite highlight of our Tembe trip: (I'm not sure who would be out using bush toilet paper knowing these are around?)

On our morning game drive...

Lisa, Bruce and Brennen in our matching 'Ghana' shirts (we thought appropriate for Tembe Elephant Reserve) - and Jaden in our game drive land rover.

Anyway - back to the morning game drive... we tracked and found 2 separate prides of lions.  The first ones were coming at us following us and the kids thought it was scary, but they are amazingly beautiful animals.

Lion tracks

The first pride was all females (4 of them) - and they were on the hunt. They are the ones that followed us and made the kids nervous.

The second pride was also 4, 3 females and this male.  He is the 'dominant male' of the area and is called "Mufasa".

Tomorrow we leave here and head to the beach!  Another several hours of driving, but we are taking the ocean route - down the Indian Ocean Coast - so it should be a scenic drive.

  1. Great news! The Book of Mormon is available in Zulu. If I knew the address of your bush tent, I would overnight you a case of them. Thanks for the tip on the correct pronunciation of Zebra...I'll work on that. Amazing photos once again. The lions are breathtaking. And, not to be picky, but we want to see the kids feed the bushbabies. See you at the beach!
